Yes. We offer safaris timed to coincide with the Great Migration in both the Maasai Mara (Kenya) and the Serengeti (Tanzania) . Our guides are experts at positioning guests for the best viewing opportunities, including the famous Mara River crossings. The migration typically occurs between July and October, though excellent wildlife viewing is possible year-round.
Yes. We organize gorilla trekking expeditions in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda, as well as Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. We handle permit acquisition, guiding, and logistics. Gorilla permits are limited, so we recommend booking well in advance—ideally three to six months ahead.
Yes. We organize guided climbs of Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) via various routes, including Machame, Marangu, Lemosho, and Rongai. We also offer hikes in Mount Kenya, the Aberdares, Mount Elgon, Mount Meru, and the Rwenzori Mountains, as well as trekking in Ethiopia’s Simien Mountains. All trips include experienced mountain guides, porters, camping equipment, and full logistical support.
Safari Blu is our dedicated ocean-based experience. We take guests out on motorized boats to explore Kenya’s marine parks—snorkeling over coral reefs, dolphin watching, sandbank picnics, and relaxed beach time. It is currently focused on the Kenyan coast (Diani, Malindi, Watamu), with similar marine experiences available in Zanzibar (Tanzania) and lake-based excursions in Uganda upon request. It is the perfect complement for coastal hotel guests looking to combine sun, sea, and marine life in one outing.
We connect travelers with the living cultures of East Africa—Maasai villages, coastal Swahili heritage, Ugandan and Rwandan community initiatives, Ethiopian ancient traditions, local markets, and community-based tourism projects. What truly sets us apart is our deep network of connections with locals in most places, including the very marginalized tribes far from modernity’s influences. We arrange for the most authentic cultural experiences available—ones that are respectful, genuine, and mutually beneficial. These experiences are curated in partnership with local communities, giving guests rare insight into traditions that have remained unchanged for generations, while giving back directly to the people who host them. Highlights include Maasai homestead visits, Swahili coastal tours, Omo Valley cultural encounters in Ethiopia, and community-based initiatives across the region.
Our desert safaris take guests into some of the most striking arid and semi-arid landscapes in East Africa. In Kenya, we explore the vast, otherworldly expanse of the Chalbi Desert, including the wider Sibiloi ecosystem—the remote, fossil-rich cradle of mankind on the shores of Lake Turkana, often called the Jade Sea. In Ethiopia, we venture into the dramatic Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and most geologically active places on Earth, with its sulphur springs, salt flats, and active volcanoes. These excursions offer dramatic scenery, sunset viewing, and a completely different side of East Africa—ideal as an add-on for coastal-based guests or as a standalone adventure for intrepid travelers.
Accordion ContenAbsolutely. We build flexible, tailor-made itineraries around your guests’ length of stay, interests, and budget. Whether it’s a half-day excursion, a multi-day safari across borders, a combined beach-and-bush holiday, a gorilla trekking adventure, or a cultural immersion in Ethiopia, we can customize the experience to suit your guests’ needs.t
Yes. Safety is our top priority. We use experienced, licensed guides, well-maintained vehicles and boats, and established safety protocols across all our destinations. Our hiking and mountain guides are trained in wilderness first aid and high-altitude safety. We also maintain transparent communication with our partners and guests throughout every journey.
We are genuinely committed to responsible, community-friendly tourism. We partner with local communities, support community-based tourism initiatives, and ensure our operations respect wildlife, environments, and local cultures. We highly respect cultures and promote cultural practices that protect the environments and wildlife in them—like the Maasai and the Samburu, whose taboos are against game meat and the destruction of environments. Our cultural experiences are curated in partnership with local communities, and we give back to the people who host our guests. We also work with remote villages and local guides across East Africa to ensure authentic, respectful experiences that benefit both visitors and hosts.
What sets us apart is the depth of our local connections and our commitment to authentic, immersive travel. We don’t just show you East Africa—we introduce you to it through the eyes of the people who call it home. Our network extends to locals in most places, including very marginalized tribes far from modernity’s influences, allowing us to arrange the most authentic cultural experiences available anywhere. Our hiking and camping expeditions are among the best in the region precisely because of these connections—our local guides, porters, and community partners know the terrain, the weather, the wildlife, and the hidden routes in ways that outsiders simply cannot replicate. We combine this with licensed, experienced guides, reliable logistics, transparent pricing, and a genuine passion for the region. Whether you’re witnessing the Great Migration, trekking with mountain guides, exploring the Chalbi Desert and Sibiloi ecosystem, or sitting with a Maasai elder, every journey with Hal Safaris is designed to be safe, seamless, and unforgettable.
